Single Number '0' Plates

There are only 8 single number '0' plates in the UK - 7 are Scottish and 1 is English. They weren't originally issued, but specially issued to local authorities for use on official vehicles. Details on why they were created are limited, although singlesingle.co.uk explains why G 0, S 0 and V 0 were created, and the rest probably follow similar stories.

Glasgow, 1972
G 0 - specially issued to the Lord Provost of Glasgow
HS 0 - specially issued to Eastward District Council before it was abolished and taken over by the East Renfrewshire Council in 1996. Recently, the council announced that they were interested in selling the plate and are wanting an offer of six-figures.
